Importing a root certificate into your
Web browser
By importing the root certificate, you ensure
that your Navigator 2.x or 3.x or Internet
Explorer 3.0 browser works with all Web server
secured by Jalyn certificates. The process takes
only a couple of minutes.
Netscape Navigator 2.x and 3.x
To import the appropriate root certificate
into Netscape Navigator 2.x and 3.x, follow these
steps:
- In Netscape Navigator, open http://ca.jalyn.net/JalynCAkey.der
. A New Certificate Authority software
wizard appears. This wizard guides you
through the steps for accepting a new
root certificate.
- Proceed through the New Certificate
Authority wizard until you see the
following dialog box and then click More
Info...
- The View a Certificate dialog box appears. In the View a Certificate dialog
box, make sure that the value shown in the Certificate Fingerprint field is the
same as the one posted on the Jalyn Web site at http://ca.jalyn.net/Jalynfingerprint.stml
. If the two values are different you should not import the certificate.

- Click OK to continue.
- Proceed through the wizard until you see the dialog box below. Be sure to choose
"Accept this Certificate Authority" as shown.

- Proceed through the wizard until you finished. When asked to choose a nickname
use a name you can identify it with, such as "Jalyn Root".
You have just imported a new Jalyn root certificate. This will allow you to access Web
sites secured with Jalyn Trust Root Authority Web
server certificates.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 (not 3.01
or higher)
To import the new root certificate (valid
until October 2020) into Microsoft Internet
Explorer 3.0, follow these steps:
- In Internet Explorer 3.0, open http://ca.jalyn.net/JalynCAkey.der
.
- If the File download dialog box appears,
choose the option to open the file. The
New Site Certificate dialog box appears.

- In the site certificate dialog box choose
"Accept and enable this site
certificate".
- Click "OK".
- Exit IE and then restart it.
You have just imported the Jalyn root
certificate. This certificate will allow you to
access Web sites secured with Jalyn Trust Root
Authority Web server certificates. The root
certificate is valid until October 2020.
